Wins $104,000 in Nov. 27 drawing on tickets purchased separately

Being forgetful paid off for a 74-year-old Montgomery County man, who won $104,000 in the Nov. 27 Bonus Match 5 drawing because he bought two $4 tickets and played the same sets of personal lucky numbers.

The avid player said he couldn’t remember if he had gotten his ticket for Sunday’s drawing so he went back to his local 7-Eleven in Kensington to buy a ticket. Imagine his surprise when he discovered he won not once but twice in the same drawing with tickets bought at the same Lottery retailer!

“When I looked at the winning numbers on my phone to check to see if I had won, that was when I got the shock of my life,” he said. “I usually play my family members’ birth dates and that’s what came out.”

The lucky Kensington resident, who is a semi-retired consultant for small businesses, said he plans to use his winnings to pay off most of his bills and will save the rest of the prize. The retailer, located at 10594 Metropolitan Avenue, will get a double bonus totaling $1,000 from the Lottery for selling two top-prize tickets in the daily game.
